10 December – 12 December 2013 – Lakes Entrance

We packed up the caravan this morning and decided, since we have house and school figured out for 2015, we would move onto a new area to continue what is left of our travels.  However , we were first going to view a house that had just come on the market for sale, directly opposite the local primary school.  The house was lovely and bright with nothing to do except for move in.  The price was within our budget and so on the way out of town we called and made an offer and left it with them – fate would now have to take over.  Our drive today was in the direction of Lakes Entrance, somewhere that we had heard lots about and never visited.  We found a caravan park only a block out of the centre of town and set up then went to grab some groceries.  It was a quiet afternoon and evening with nothing to rave about.

Tuesday morning Josh decided to head to the local pool so the kids went along too.  Josh swam laps and the kids joined in on water aerobics – I on the other hand enjoyed some quiet time.  When they returned we wandered into this little fishing coastal town and through the shops for a look around and in search of a lunch spot, walking past a few cafes and pubs but it was so late in the afternoon that most of the service was about to close.  Instead we got some supplies and headed back to the caravan park and made it ourselves.

The following day we set for a big walk over the Cunninghame Arm pedestrian bridge, crossing the channel of water with tourists on paddle boats and enjoying the surf at the sunny beach.  The kids were not impressed but we walked along the beach from one end to the other to check out the boat dredging the inlet.  There was enough sand spitting out the tube to build loads of sandcastles or even a mini town.  As we came around the bend to cross the channel back towards town, we stopped to watch the waves roll in and could see tens of seals frolicking in the water.  They were surfing the waves and having a ball… if only we could jump in with them for a play.  We stood for ages watching them and admiring how much fun they were having at the inlet.  It must have been a big walk as tonight when Josh laid with the kids in the spare bed, they all passed out straight away and all together – sweet as that meant I had my bed all to myself – comfort!
