Samantha turned 9 today and we
gave her some good walkie talkies for her birthday as well as a few other small
things. It was probably a bad idea as
they girls were just running about the house using them to talk to each
other. After pottering about a little,
we decided to head to Scitech in Perth, an indoor activity seeing as it was
cold, overcast and showery. David came
along for the fun too so he offered to drive us all in. When we paid and walked in, there were quite
a lot of people and a lot of activity going on, this looked like fun. There was a “cool show” about to start so we
headed in. The kids learnt a bit about
liquid nitrogen and the effect it has on different items. Back in the main room was a whole range of
activities, some of their favourites being the smelling pump trees, periscopes
in the aquarium area, machines with pulleys including a chair to see if they
could lift their own weight and the air cannon.
There was another area that we started to get into, it was solving a
crime by finding the answers to a whole lot of clues. Their favourite in this section was trying to
get from one side of a room to the other by avoiding the lasers… but it was a
bit hard to do as other kids were coming in setting off the buzzers. We had a fun day but eventually left as our
bellies were grumbling. We walked over
to a big semi-outdoor shopping centre, had something to eat and did a bit of
window shopping but before too long the sky opened up and the rain bucketed
down. Fortunately, David came to pick us
up and we didn’t have to make our own way home.
Tonight we went to Rockingham for dinner at the Sunset Restaurant with
David, Uncle Rob, Jiraporn, Daniel and Moshe.
It was good to get to know them all better and the food was
fantastic! We topped the night off with
some birthday cake and then retreated outside to the cold. The night wouldn’t have been complete without
Uncle Rob taking a full family photo with all 9 of us Scheffers!
