Another good few days here in Tamworth, we are absolutely
loving it and even the kids are getting into the groove of it all. The kids have again been running into lots of
the “Star Makers” throughout the day, and been able to get lots of photos,
including with Nathan Lamont (one of the four (and the only male) Star Maker
finalists who will battle it out on Friday night for the title), Johnny Taylor
(you may have seen him on Australia’s Got Talent last year?), Ben Ransom (who
just happens to have grown up around Parramatta) and Victoria Edwards. We watched Pixie Jenkins and Warren H
Williams do a gig in the one of the shopping centres – and again the kids have
photos. The artists have all been really
friendly and the kids thought that Pixie in particular was a real hoot. There was another great act that we came
across, called “8 Ball Aitken” (dude with long red locks). Look him up on Youtube and have a listen –
not only very talented but also really funny.
Mid arvo we came back to the van and had a break from it
all. You will never guess what happened
when the kids decided to ride their bikes around the caravan park for a while –
or perhaps you will? Sami fell off her
bike! Yep!! Amongst the gravel and grazed down her leg as
well as the top of one of her feet, blood and skin and a few tears were
shed. We decided to stay in that night
so we all stayed up until midnight watching Batman.
This morning we headed to Wests (the local club) and watched
the Fender show. There were lots of talented
acts, many of whom we hadn’t heard of or seen before and the Fenders were
lovely and shiny! The jam session by all
the musos to finish of the act was pretty damn good! We headed off to a different venue next to
see Chad Morgan perform (surely plenty of you know who he is but there is a photo below
of him with the kids. You will recognise
him! I might also mention that Chad is actually our neighbour two doors up in the caravan park.). On our way out of this shopping
centre, we heard music coming from within BigW so stopped to check it out. It was The Viper Creek Band on stage inside performing
– and damn they were good!
After hanging out at the van for a bit we went back to Wests
and had tickets to another show, the Sunny Cowgirls. They were also fantastic, even singing “I’ve
been Eveywhere”, not to mention that they threw buckets of lollies to the kids
in the audience, not that there were that many kids around. Straight after this concert we rushed out of
there and headed for Toyota Park for the free Kasey Chambers concert. Lucky we got there early and were able to
plant our chairs in a good position near the front for the show. After arriving on stage fashionably late,
Kasey and Shane came out – but you should have seen the audience rush towards
the front of the stage – so much for our good position!! It was a great show nonetheless (lucky we
were also right near the speakers) and we did actually get a couple of pics.
That’s all from me for tonight – I need some rest to pull on
the boots (so to speak) and hit the pavement of Peel Street again tomorrow.
