We woke around 10am today!!! The sleep-ins are just getting later and later!! It rained most of last night and drizzled all day. It has actually been a bit of a reprieve from the hot weather we’ve been enduring in this hot country town. We made the most of the weather today and lazed about for most of the day by just reading the paper, I read a bit of a book, we watched a bit of tv, the kids played cards and we simply relaxed… aaahhh!! We had tickets today to go to the Longyard Hotel and watch the Bushwackers – my all-time favourite country band. They’ve been around for about 40 years now and when I was a little girl my folks had their album which I used to play over and over. Josh too has also become a bit of a fan! Even though it was raining the place was PACKED! Fortunately, we got their just in time to grab four chairs only just out of the rain and right next to Chris E. Thomas and Tamara Stewart. From what I can gather after seeing them today, this gig is one which they do every year on the day after the Golden Guitars and I would advise anyone and everyone to try and get to this gig at least once in your lifetime! Not only did we get to see the Bushwackers, but they also had their friends get up on stage to sing with them including Kasey Chambers, Shane Nicholson, Beccy Cole, Tamara Stewart, Chris E and Harry Hookey to name some of them. Out of all the fantastic acts that we’ve seen this week in Tamworth, this has definitely been my favourite!! What a shame the TCMF has had to end… it has just been too much fun. We will definitely try to plan to be back here as often as possible – and all of you should try to get here at some stage too, whether country music is your thing or not – just saying!!!
