As gorgeous as Airlie Beach is, the weather wasn’t doing a
lot in our favour this week. It was
pretty overcast and drizzly for most of the week but still plenty warm enough
to just wear shorts and shirt. Every day
we rode from our caravan along the foreshore and boardwalk into Airlie Beach
and most of the time took our towel so we could go for a swim at the free local
lagoon – see not too cold at all. If we
weren’t on our bike ride then you probably would have just found us in the
caravan doing school work or in the car driving around the area admiring the
view. We had some lovely neighbours from
Townsville here, Sarah and Jason, with their two little boys Billy (4) and
Lawson (20 months) had just started their own trip of Australia but in the
opposite direction. At one stage, we had
seen enough of the inside of the caravan so bundled up the school work, rode
into Airlie Beach on our bikes and did the work at a table by the pool… what a
gorgeous view of the islands while doing school work! One particular day after having enough of the
school work, we went for a drive out to Cedar Creek Falls but the weather was
pretty cold so we didn’t swim. There
were so many mosquitos that we probably should have just jumped in to escape
them. We also visited Wilson and Conway
Beaches which looked like sleepy old towns.
